The Benefits
There comes a point in all our lives when we feel we can no longer manage without some form of help, and sometimes a visiting carer may not be enough. Even if you are getting regular home care visits you still have to fit in with their schedule, which can result in you having to wait longer for your meals, help getting up in the morning, or being assisted into bed. More often than not problems arise outside of the carer's visit, whereas with live-in care you can feel secure in the knowledge that 24hr help is near at hand.

Given the choice, most people prefer to stay their own home surrounded by their treasured possessions, and happy memories. here is also the added advantage of not having to move away from neighbours and friends. Loneliness can have a detrimental effect on ones general health and well-being, sometimes leading to prolonged periods of depression. Whilst a care home may seem like an ideal solution this is not necessarily the case because (as the saying goes) 'one can be just as lonely in a crowd', and it is easy to isolate oneself in an institution. As your carer is solely dedicated to your care she/he will quickly become attuned to your preferences, and instinctively feel when their company is welcome and when to gracefully retreat. Apart from being good company your carer will assist with personal care, prepare meals of your choosing, do the laundry, light administration, shopping, assisted pet care and generally helping out.
